If I am worthy enough for your support to be elected to the County Council At-Large, below are several specific goals that I will work diligently to accomplish during my first term:

• I will strive for achieving a balance between growth and development to preserve our quality of life and neighborhoods by maintaining the green spaces, while at the same time providing thoughtful consideration to local development and broader transportation issues. I will also advocate for enhanced oversight and audits over the Montgomery County Parks and Planning Board. We simply cannot allow another Clarksburg incident to happen again. The citizens deserve greater accountability and transparency from the county government.
  
  
• I will be a strong and consistent voice on the County Council who advocates for sustainable strategies to make the County easier to traverse while protecting the environment, encouraging business expansion, and maximizing the benefits to the County residents. That is why I will push for more money for Metro and Ride On Bus. We need to expand our citizens’ access to public transportation so they can get to and from work.
  
  
• I will work tirelessly to enhance our investment in our most valuable human resource – our children. Class sizes in our public schools should be maintained at much smaller sizes than they are at present. Classrooms should be fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology and resources to ensure that our curriculum and students remain competitive. As our County grows, school, classrooms and new teachers must be added to meet these needs, and current teachers should be supported and offered opportunities for training and renewal. I will be your strongest advocate for a strong, effective educational system in Montgomery County.
  
  
• Public safety and individual rights are important for our diverse community. While I will work to ensure that public safety personnel receive the resources necessary to protect the public, I will also spearhead efforts that there be regular opportunities for all stakeholders, including parents, law enforcement officials, community leaders and residents, educators, and children to engage in dialogue and strategies to address the growing problems in our County of gang violence, discrimination and profiling, and teenage abuse of alcohol and drugs.
  
  
• Another issue that is not currently receiving the attention it deserves is the increasing lack of affordable housing in Montgomery County. It is unacceptable and wrong that with all of the growth that is ongoing around us, our teachers, police officers, firefighters, and other public servants can no longer afford to live in the communities where they work. As your County Councilman, I will introduce legislation early in my term to correct this inequity.
